Things To Do …
At the resort: What can you funseekers do at The Wilds Resort? You can kick off your shoes and build castles in the sand at our beach area. Take a refreshing dip in the swimming area or catch some rays on one of the deck chairs on the beach. Play with the water toys, or for the more adventurous, go paddleboating, canoeing, or kayaking. The kids will want to venture to the swings in the playground. It looks like a fort, doesn’t it? Or maybe it’s a castle. It could be a pirate ship. Whatever their imagination tells them, they are sure to have lots of fun.
Nearby: When you stay at The Wilds Resort there are areas where you can engage in lots of fun activities. A clean sandy beach and swimming area, a playground area, and an area behind The Lodge where you can heat up the competitive sports. There you can pitch some horseshoes, have a bocci ball contest, hit the tetherball, or play a volley ball game. Winner gets bragging rights.
Did you know…that the Mississippi River is the world’s third longest river and it begins just a few miles from here as a small stream in Itasca State Park? It was preserved as parkland in 1891, making it Minnesota’s oldest state park. We are next to The Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, home to dozens of waterfowl species, bald eagles, whitetail deer, black bear and coyote, and is a good spot for birding and wildlife watching.
We are located halfway between Park Rapids and Detroit Lakes. The Hubbard County Historical Museum and The North Country Museum of Arts are located in Park Rapids, and there are numerous craft shops in the nearby area. Every August Detroit Lakes is home to one of the largest country music festivals in the world, the WE Fest, where many of the top stars in the field perform.
